WFC Soundwave

War for Cybertron/Generation - I have been away since a very long time and has not updated this blog ever since. Too many stuff going in my life at one time. So finally, I have settled down and finally got the time to review another figure. Well, I have bought Soundwave a few months ago as I have bought most of the War for Cybertron figure including Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee and Cliffjumper. Soundwave was a very rare kit nowadays in Brunei. Fortunately, I found the last one at Chong Hock Toynation and interestingly it is a Takara Tomy United version. Takara Tomy has better paint job (shiny for that matter) but has a quality issue. I will explain it at the end of this review.

Bio

Soundwave is one of Megatron's most reliable troops, and he has positioned himself comfortably and irreplaceably in the Decepticon upper command structure. Though "only" Communications Officer, Soundwave stands at Megatron's side as a confidant, comparable in rank to Starscream and Shockwave, but unlike them, entirely loyal to his leader. Though stoic and possessed of little outward personality (as evidenced by his monotone computer-style speech), Soundwave is not without drives: he has worked hard to get where he is, and he guards his place in the Decepticon hierarchy fiercely. On top of hearing all in his role as Communications Officer and Decepticon spy-master, he is actually capable of "reading minds" by scanning and decoding the electrical impulses that comprise "thoughts" in both organics and Cybertronians, and he will not hesitate to use what he learns as blackmail to keep himself high in Megatron's esteem. As such, Soundwave is not popular among the rank-and-file Decepticons, who see him as a two-faced snake and wouldn't mind abandoning him on the battlefield—if they thought Megatron would let them get away with it.

Vehicle Mode

First of all; I would apologize for the quality of my pictures. Actually, I had to sold off my DSLR camera and as a substitute, I had use a simple digital 8 Megapixel camera. So I do hope you will not mind my pictures and focus more on my review. Anyway, the vehicle mode looks identical to its video game counter-part. Its a bit bulky and it is not a CD player or a satellite. It is simply a Cybertronian vehicle that has claw in front of it (maybe to ram some poor Autobot ass). There is also a secret alternate mode (just like ROTF Mindwipe as a bat), where Soundwave can become a boombox. Go search for it on Google or YouTube.

Alternate Mode

Now, I really prefer the alternate mode compared to the vehicle mode. It is so.... Soundwave. The transformation process was not that hard although there are few pegs that you really need to fit in and some minor adjustment to the feet (due to its spring mechanism). The weapon can be mounted inside his chest (pictured above) and as a reference to the G1 Soundwave. Unfortunately, this version of Soundwave does not come with Laserbeak or any of the mini cassette (guess have to wait for FoC Soundwave version). The only part of the body that I really dislike about Soundwave is the feet itself. It felt like a flipper rather than a feet. Normally, G1 Soundwave does not have this kind of feet. But all in all, Soundwave is really a bad ass Decepticon. Silent but deadly (like a ninja I guess). If you tend to find this at any shop, go grab it as you might not see it soon. Or you can just wait for the Fall of Cybertron Soundwave (which have Laserbeak).

Generation Windblade

30 th Generation - Meet the official fan-made Transformers; Windblade. According to tfwiki.net ; she was officially revealed at the 2013 SDCC (San Diego Comic-Con) after running a few polls from fan. What I love about Windblade was she is the first Autobot female that I ever bought (Yes, I bought Airachnid from TFPrime). I think I forgot that I bought Arcee from TFPrime but sold it before I could ever review or displayed it (in this case, that does not count). Well, I really like her appearance and here is my review of her figure.

CW Powerglide

Combiner Wars - Finally a better looking Powerglide. I can't afford to buy the Classic 2.0 Powerglide; so this would be quite a nice value for your money. Basically, Powerglide is one of the G1 mini-bot (and how I wish that Beachcomber and Seaspray would be redesign). When Hasbro announce Powerglide as a legend class Combiner Wars figure; I was really excited. The new figure is the best looking Powerglide known and identical to his animation counterpart. And the best part; he transform himself into a powerful blaster for the combiners. Here is my review of him.

Expressive Art Convention Brunei - Gundam Exhibition

EACon Brunei - Honestly, I am not a big fan of Gundam. But I do love the creative things that some collectors are willing to do beyond the stock paint and decal. Some are very quite amazing compared to the normal stock version. The ability to customized a Gundam model (or GunPla) is beyond imagination and limitless compared to a Transformers figure. Well just look at the pictures and judge it by yourself (Pictures make take a while to load, so please be patient).
