Bio
Ratchet is the Autobots' Chief Medical Officer. If something's broke, he can fix it. Ratchet is known for his irreverent bedside manner; He loves having a good time, and his party-loving nature has given him a dry wit. He is not a particularly mighty warrior, which sometimes leads him to believe that he is expendable. Optimus Prime has trouble convincing Ratchet that this is far from the truth.
Although he's a healer, Ratchet often finds himself on the front lines of combat and, on occasion, the last hope the Autobots have. These pressures are sometimes too much for him to handle, but Ratchet ultimately never gives up. His vehicle mode sometimes splits into his robot and a separate component. - Sources TFWIKI
Vehicle Mode
Personally, I really don't like his vehicle mode. Not that I hate it. When you view it upfront or on the rear; it looks pretty nice. Wait until you see it on both sides. The sides look like a fractured car (even my car is not that worst). I know that Ratchet is a redeco of Ironhide and he is identical to each other. I also asked myself; Is this really an ambulance? It is more like an animal rescue SUV instead of being a medical vehicle.
Alternate Mode
First of all, his transformation is a bit of a hassle. You have to be careful on his knee parts as it needed to be jump around a bit before it can transform properly. For a few decades, this figure is the most proper G1 looks for Ratchet (and Ironhide for that matter). I really like how it really look like. It even got detachable weapon that can be use either as a dagger or a machine gun.
There were a lot differences between the Henkei version and this version. The Henkei version has chrome weapon and little livery. While this version has different color scheme and has a license plate saying H3L PU2 (Help You Too). Anyway, I just love Ratchet as he maintain his original G1 looks. But personally, I felt deluxe Prime Ratchet is much more superior in style and execution. Well at least he is not grumpy as Ratchet Animated.
