ROTF Jetfire

Revenge of The Fallen - The name is Jetfire. What a disappointment when one of your favorite G1 characters turn out to be a douche bag in M. Bay movie. Jetfire or Skyfire was always my favorite G1 characters among the rest of the aerial team. Why oh why M. Bay turned him into an old fart with a walking stick?? Where is the relationship between his old friend Starscream and him? I just hate the movie. Luckily, there are two things that I really love about this leader class. First, he turn into one of the best super sonic jet plane in the world, The USAF Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird and lastly; he combined with any Optimus Prime leader class to become Jetpower Optimus Prime.

Bio

JETFIRE grew tired of war a long time ago. The reckless ambition of the DECEPTICONS, and the senseless violence of their war sickened him, and so he left CYBERTRON to go into hiding. The form he eventually chose on Earth seemed appropriate for one who wished to remain unseen. He slumbered in peace for years. Now, reawakened by the arrival of the war on Earth, he decides once again to enter the fight – this time on the side of the AUTOBOTS, and this time to end it for good, whatever the cost.

Vehicle Mode

I'm just a craze about his vehicle mode. The Blackbird is an awesome super sonic bomber. Even the X-Men use it as their transportation. If I were to fly this baby in Brunei, I would already run out of runway. Even Hunt for Decepticon Starscream leader class was not as cool as Jetfire. Its wide and I could not even fit it on my shelves. I love the detail on Jetfire. The former Decepticon logo and a skunk. There is also an inscription stating 'LT. COL. BRAWLEY WARNING THIS AIRCRAFT CONTAINS A SEAT CONTAINING AN EXPLOSIVE CHARGE SEE MAINTENANCE MANUAL BEFORE REMOVING.' Maybe he was the previous pilot. There is also an marking 'JTFR'; short for Jetfire. If you click the sound, it will make a super sonic sound. Much more better than Starscream jet engine sound.

Alternate Mode

Who created this version Jetfire must be shot dead in the head. His head looks like a catfish and he is similar to an old man with a stick (closely resemble to that old man from Pixar's Up). Anyway, his transformation is a real pain in the ass but not too hard. My only complaint was that some of the parts especially the one that will combine with Optimus Prime chest is hanging like some sort of loose wire. The instruction does not tell you where to put those in the first place.

Anyway, Jetfire does not look that bad compared to Megatron leader class. He is closely resemble to his movie counter-part and he speaks with an accent. When you push the MechAlive mechanism; he will speak, rotate his head and lights up. Another complaint the leg part has limited articulated. Sometimes it is really hard to stand if you don't adjust it correctly.

Jetpower Optimus Prime

Well, in the movie; Jetfire sacrificed himself in order to combine with Optimus Prime who has just been revived (well, a hero can't really die I guess). But to think that if you are a human being and you are using someone extra hands and legs to win you in a battle is just gross. Luckily, the Cybertronian are robot organism. It took me some time to combine Jetfire to my Battle Blade Optimus Prime leader class. Combining them both surely takes a bit of time. I had some trouble combining the legs part most of the time. But when you get it, it surely looks awesome in every way. Sometimes I do wish I had Buster Prime instead of the one I had right now. I can't complaint as it is almost identical as each other. So if you have any ROTF leader class Optimus Prime or even the Battle Hook Optimus Prime; you can combine it with Jetfire.

Anyway, Jetfire has been extinct but the demand is still very high. I saw it on ebay that they are selling both Jetfire and Optimus Prime for USD$400. Unfortunately for those scalper, Hasbro and Takara has reissued it and has release both version on the Dark of the Moon toyline. Cheers!!
