Dark of the Moon - I am back. I am on hiatus on Gundam for a while since this December is a busy month for me. Early this month itself, there are a lot of wedding going on and a lot of wedding assignment. Anyway, I managed to take a photos of Dark of The Moon Megatron and will review it. I have bought this since a very long time. Even before I bought Shockwave. But I never managed to review it (the same with ROTF Takara Tomy Optimus Prime). I was too distracted with all the things happening around me. But now, I am back. First of all, I would like to apologize to the reader for the long hiatus. And the new black backdrop does not seems to fit very well than my previous white backdrop. Now here is what I think about DOTM Megatron.
Bio
MEGATRON has lost battles, but he has never been truly defeated. Even after his near total destruction by the AllSpark, he returned. This latest loss is nothing to him. He has plans thousands of years in the making that are finally coming to fruition. This time, nothing will stop him from annihilating the AUTOBOTS completely.
Vehicle Mode
When Dark of The Moon was released; you were wondering what ever happened to Megatron after the Egypt battle. Does he survive? Yes, he is. Instead of transforming into his Cybertronian tank or jet; his vehicle mode was a tanker. I thought he would be faithful and become a tank (like his G2 counterpart) but that was already taken by Brawl. At least, he could become something even more wicked and evil. But never mind; in the movie, his looks was still bad ass. So does his vehicle form. But when you saw this voyager class tank; it make you think. So this is just it?
To be honest; I really love the vehicle mode more than its alternate mode. The tanker on the back can be adjusted and rotated on certain degree of angle so that it looks like two vehicles hooked up on each other. The detail and the weathering is also really great. It is so rusty and definitely something not from a Star Trek movie, LOL. The MechTech weapon is the most unimaginative one. Part of the tanker become some sort of claw. And there are only 4 MechTech weapon including the 3 on the weapon itself.
Alternate Mode
This is where Megatron gets really ugly. Not like the movie character ugly but this figure is totally ugly. His transformation was fun and very easy. My only complaint about the new DOTM mold (including Optimus Prime) was that they are short and their body mass is not equivalent to with their head. Not to say it that it is bad. But look at it. His head is small like the shrunken from Beetlejuice. At least the veil fits really well and hide Megatron hideous face. So I just kept it like that when he is on his alternate mode. The rest of its mold were not that bad but Hasbro/Takara could improve more on the detailing side. It felt so plastic. They are so cheap when it comes to paint job. It is like saying to us; if you don't like it, do it yourself. Anyway, if you have a collection of Megatron, than I won't stop you to go and buy it. For me, it is a nice addition to the collection but they are a lot of great Megatron figure out there waiting for you. So this really can wait (if it is still available that is).
